The ASB Classic might have lost its top draw in Maria Sharapova falling to Greta Arn, but it still has its defending champion, Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium. The 2010 winner advanced to the semifinal with a 6-0 6-2 dismantling of Simona Halep. But now the road might get a bit harder as Yanina faces China’s PENG Shuai, the ouster of third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova, who edged by tough qualifier Heather Watson 6-4 7-5. Greta Arn will take on fourth seed Julia Goerges in the other semifinal.
