Jelena Dokic Advances At Open GDF Suez, Stands Between Kim Clijsters and #1 Ranking

Jelena Dokic will get a chance to make Kim Clijsters wait a bit to become #1 again. Dokic defeated Nadia Petrova 6-4 7-6 (4). It would be a signature win in her comeback if Dokic is able to knock off Clijsters in the quarters. In another match, American Bethanie Mattek-Sands was denied a chance to play Maria Sharapova when Maria withdrew from the event with illness. Instead, Mattek-Sands defeated lucky loser Stephanie Cohen-Aloro 7-5 6-3. I’d love to see Bethanie win again and reach the semis here.
