Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand Wins 2011 United States Girls’ Junior Championship

Congratulations to Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn on her victory at the 63rd United States Girls’ Junior Championship. Ariya defeated Dottie Ardina in the 36 hole final 2 and 1. As of the writing of this post, Ariya is the 2nd ranked junior by Golfweek. She trails only her sister, Moriya Jutanugarn, who sits at #1. Moriya served as Ariya’s caddie in the final.

Ariya was also the low amateur at the 2011 Kraft Nabisco Championship, as well as tying for 25th overall. Of course, I am always happy to see a Thai player do well, especially an up and coming player. Junior success doesn’t always translate into professional glory, but I do have high hopes for the Jutanugarn sisters. But I still miss Virada. 🙂
