Making her debut as a professional at this event is 2010 and 2011 US Women’s Amateur Champion, Danielle Kang. Kang was also the low amateur at the 2011 Ricoh Women’s British Open. The last 8 years of US Women’s Amateur champions will be in the field this week; Danielle Kang (2011, 2010), Jennifer Song (2009), Amanda Blumenherst (2008), Mariajo Uribe (2007), Kimberly Kim (2006), Morgan Pressel (2005) and Jane Park (2004). Other Women’s Amateur winners in the field include: Meredith Duncan (2001), Dorothy Delasin (1999), Grace Park (1998), Silvia Cavalleri (1997) and Wendy Ward (1994). So then…

Also, $500,000 was donated to the NW Arkansas Food Bank. The LPGA, its sponsors and players continue to give back to the communities where they play. Stacy Lewis and Tiffany Joh were both there for the announcement.

  1. WOW, 25+ votes on this thread, looks like your blog are getting more & more popular, great !! By the way, weren’t both Yani Tseng & Michelle Wie past US Women’s Amateur Winners?

    • Michelle Wie and Yani won the US Women’s Amateur Public Links…Michelle won in 2003 when she was only 13…normally, I’d cheer that as a Wie fan, except that she beat Virada Nirapathpongporn, my all-time favorite. Virada would go on to win the US Women’s Amateur (not the Public Links). Yani won the US Women’s Amateur Public Links in 2004, the year after Michelle. She also beat Michelle in the final. Neither Michelle nor Yani won the US Women’s Amateur…Jennifer Song won both the US Women’s Amateur and the US Women’s Amateur Public Links…Tiffany Joh won the Pub Links twice…

    • I am very happy that anybody stops by to read the blog. I really do try to keep it active and fun 🙂
