LPGA Star Jiyai Shin Out At Least A Month Due To Injury

Jiyai Shin

Former world #1 Jiyai Shin has announced, through her agent, that she will miss at least one month due to back and right big toe injuries. She noticed the pain at the 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open. Her condition has worsened since then, resulting in Shin being hospitalized Monday in Korea. Her doctor was quoted as saying Jiyai would need 3 weeks of treatment. Shin is an 8-time winner on the LPGA, including the 2008 Women’s British Open, and has 34 wins worldwide. Here’s hoping she gets proper diagnosis and treatment so that she can be pain-free as soon as possible.

  2. Bad bad news.. get well soon Jiyai. By the way, I think she is a much better player with her glasses.

    • Hopefully, the condition is not chronic and she will fully recover. I also think she was better glasses. Although, she probably should have won the Kia Classic if it were not for some poor putting.

  3. Its really sad to hear about Jiyai. She’s a great person as well as an excellent golfer. I hope she feels better soon!

    • I share those feelings. I am a fan of Grace Park, whose own career was derailed for several seasons with back problems…since then, whenever I hear about a golfer with a back issue, I get nervous about their future…

  4. Yep, Jiyai choked away her title to Sandra Gal in Kia Classis, after won that event, Gals world ranking jumped from #99 to #30, & basically earn her a spot on Solheim Cup team. I remember last year, Jiyai missed State Farm Classis due to injury as well.. please keep us update if any news about Jiyai, thanks Bobby 🙂
