Novak Djokovic Recovers From Shaky Start To Defeat Marcos Baghdatis At 2011 Swiss Indoors; Roger Federer Easily Beats Andy Roddick

Novak Djokovic

World #1 Novak Djokovic escaped a shaky first set to come back and defeat Marco Baghdatis at the 2011 Swiss Indoors, 2-6 6-2 6-3. While it’s a positive any time to get a win, what worries me is the state of Novak’s serve at this point. Marcos broke Nole twice early in the match. Djokovic has said that he has only been serving the last couple of weeks after nothing for 4 weeks. He might be able to get by Kei Nishikori in the semifinals…although that is not a given…but should he face Roger Federer or Stanislas Wawrinka in the final he must have his serve working.

Roger Federer

And speaking of Federer, he raised his career record against Andy Roddick to an astounding 21-2 with a  6-3 6-2 victory. After losing to Djokovic in the US Open semifinals after having a pair of match points, the first erased by Nole’s shot for the ages forehand crosscourt service return, I am sure Roger would love to get some payback on his home soil in Switzerland.
