Every journey begins with the first step. Caroline Wozniacki took the first step to regaining her stature as one of the top 5 players in the world by winning her first title of 2012 at the KDB Korea Open. The 19-time WTA winner still has a long way to get there but her 6-1 6-0 destruction of Kaia Kanepi should give her a huge confidence boost and send a message that there is still a lot of championship tennis left in the Danish star.
“I don’t really think about the ranking. I’m just happy I won the tournament. I want to enjoy it and be positive, so that’s what I’m thinking about right now. I want to build up for the next season and hopefully my results this week will help me move forward and get back to playing my best.” – Caroline Wozniacki
It’s ok that she’s not focused so much on the rankings, but she is thinking about building momentum for 2013 and getting back to playing her best. That last part is the key. If she gets back to playing her best, the rankings…and titles…will take care of themselves.
