Petra Kvitova defeated Sara Errani 6-2 1-6 6-1 to claim the title at the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. It is the 10th WTA singles title for Petra. Her rhythm was thrown off when Sara started to serve and volley more in the 2nd set but once Petra’s shots started to find their way in the 3rd set, as they did in the 1st set, she showed why so many people, including me, think that when she is on she can compete and beat anybody in the world. I also have to give Sara credit. She is terrific on clay, as she showed last year with 4 clay court titles and an appearance in the Roland Garros 2012 final. However, she had no hard court wins. In fact, she hadn’t reached a hard court singles final since Pattaya 2011 and not since 2009 before that. In 2013, only at the end of February, she has reached 2 hard court finals, in Dubai and Paris. If she keeps improving who knows what she can achieve.
