Nancy Lopez Honored With Street Named After Her; Hosts Successful Hospice Charity Event

Nancy Lopez

World Golf Hall of Fame member Nancy Lopez was honored by Albany, Georgia with a street in her name. Intersecting Nancy Lopez Lane will be Ray Knight Way, named after baseball star, and former husband of Nancy Lopez, Ray Knight. Knight was the MVP of the 1986 World Series as a member of the New York Mets. Oddly enough, he became the first World Series MVP to sign with another team the next year, as he moved on to play with the Baltimore Orioles. In addition to the street name honor, Nancy Lopez hosted the 27th Nancy Lopez Hospice Golf Classic, which raised money for the Willson Hospice in Albany, Georgia. Nancy was especially moved by the work the hospice does when her mother-in-law and father-in-law, whom she refers to as simply mom and dad, both received care at the hospice in their final days.
