Two athletes I have written about numerous times on this blog are Lydia Ko and Hope Solo. I am pleased to see both made Newsweek’s 125 Women of Impact issue. Granted, some might question why a golfer and soccer player stand next to political leaders like former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton or business leaders like Facebook COO and author Sheryl Sandberg. However, that’s how these types of lists are compiled. They take a nice cross section of political leaders, activists, business women, authors, singers, actresses, athletes, scientists, etc. So in that vein, certainly I have no problem with a record setter like Lydia on the list or a woman that has helped push the popularity of women’s soccer like Hope Solo being included. Congratulations to both.
