16-year old golf phenom Lydia Ko of New Zealand continues her globe-trekking schedule with an appearance in this week’s 2013 Wegmans LPGA Championship, the 2nd of 5 LPGA Majors this year. The peripatetic Ko owns the record of being the youngest player to ever win an LPGA tour event, a mark she set at 15 years and 4 months old at the 2012 Canadian Open. She remains an amateur for now, but maybe she gives a little hint at when that status could change in the following profile.
Good luck to Lydia. I certainly don’t want her to rush things beyond where she and her team are comfortable. As a fan of great players, I just want to see more of her out there. However, at 16 there is only so much she could play on the LPGA tour anyway even if she turned pro immediately, barring some special exemption.
