The lion’s share of attention concerning up and coming American women in tennis has, rightfully, been focused on Sloane Stephens. To a degree, tennis experts have also looked to Madison Keys for her impressive ball striking ability. But some attention needs to be paid to Jamie Hampton, who reached the semifinals of the 2013 Bank of the West Classic with a 6-4 6-3 win over Vera Dushevina. Dushevina had beaten Madison Keys in the previous round. Jamie reached the final of Eastbourne 2013 before getting a terrible draw at Wimbledon, facing Sloane Stephens in the first round. I still maintain that a better draw would have given Jamie a chance to make it to the first weekend at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club. Still, Jamie is looking very good now, a final and semifinal in her last 3 events with a chance to go even farther in the latter. To do so, Hampton will need to overcome world #4 Agnieszka Radwanska. It’s going to be a tough match, but I think she has a chance. Jamie plays with no fear. She’ll need that high confidence against Aga. One note, Jamie beat Radwanska at Eastbourne on her way to the final.

    • She did it back in early May, I think…now she looks like her sister Urszula…actually, I think brunette works better for Aga 🙂
