At Wimbledon 2013, Marion Bartoli achieved her career dream. What we didn’t know as we watched her lift the Venus Rosewater Dish was that time was running out on how much her body could endure. Now, that time has run out. The reigning Wimbledon Ladies Singles champion has announced her retirement from tennis. She was one of my favorite player and I will miss her. Marion leaves as an 8 time WTA singles winner, including 1 Major, and 3 time doubles winner. She also leaves having matched her career high ranking of #7 in the world. More than that, Bartoli walked to the beat of her own drummer. She was entertaining on the court and a delightful personality off the court. I wish her the best in whatever she decides to do moving forward.
