The semifinals of the 2013 Toray Pan Pacific Open will feature the intriguing match-up of Petra Kvitova vs Venus Williams. In Petra, there is a player of incredible ability whose rise has been stymied by streaky play. She looks great at times. At other times, not so much. The 2011 Wimbledon champion handled both Madison Keys in the third round and Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semis very comfortably. Will that version of Kvitova show up against Venus? Speaking of Venus, she survived a tough challenge from Eugenie Bouchard in the quarters, finally outlasting the up and coming Canadian, 6-3 6-7 (4) 6-3. Like Petra, Venus is an unknown from match to match, dealing with her health issues. If tennis fans are lucky, we’ll see Petra and Venus at a high level  in the semis and get a fantastic match.
