LPGA This Week: 2013 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia

This week the LPGA heads to Kuala Lumpur for the 2013 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. Inbee Park will try to defend her 2012 title against a field stacked with 18 of the top 20 players as well as 46 of the top 50 players on the LPGA Money List. But the Sime Darby tournament, which has become one of the favorites among many on tour, isn’t just about the golf and the commitment Sime Darby has made in the LPGA. This tournament seeks to raise breast cancer awareness in Malaysia. This is an issue for which players like Morgan Pressel and Cristie Kerr have campaigned.

Sime Darby has also developed an LPGA Development Program, which nurtures local talent on the junior and elite levels. I can appreciate why so many pro players have a fondness for the Sime Darby event. It’s easy to tell when a sponsor is all in for the promotion of women’s golf and well as women’s health and achievement. Sime Darby certainly delivers on all bases.
