Maria Sharapova talked tennis and helped present the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid at Porsche Media Night prior to competing in the 2014 Sony Open. The Career Grand Slam champion is a global ambassador for Porsche. Coincidentally, she also is the two-time defending champion at next month’s Porsche Tennis Grand Prix tournament in Stuttgart, Germany. Unfortunately, Masha has sputtered a bit out of the gate in 2014. She has suffered a few surprise losses to players ranked well below her, culminating in getting bounced from the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells early by Camila Giorgi. Although still the 4th seed at the Sony Open, her ranking slipped to #7 in Monday’s newly published singles list. Hopefully, she can find her game in Miami. Coming off an injury at the end of 2013 and with all of her off-court activities, including being an ambassador for her childhood home of Sochi during the Winter Olympics, perhaps fans like myself just need to be patient while her form comes around.
