Stars from the world of golf joined other sports luminaries to raise over 450,000 Euros for various charities one year prior to the 2015 Solheim Cup. 22-time singles (and 1 doubles) tennis Major winner Steffi Graf joined golf stars Paula Creamer, Sandra Gal, Juli Inkster, Carin Koch, Caroline Masson, Caroline Larsson, Caroline Hedwall and reigning US Open champion Martin Kaymer in Germany. Solheim 2015 will take place at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot which is close to Heidelberg. One of the charity contests was hitting trying to hit a floating target from the Alte Bruecke (Old Bridge).
The Solheim Cup pits the best women golfers from America and Europe against each other. From its 1990 inception, the competition has been held biennially since then. Although the US squad won 8 of the first 11, the Europeans are on a two competiton winning streak including a the most lopsided victory in the series, 18-10 in 2013 at Colorado Golf Club. The Americans look to regain their winning ways in Germany, but on this day it was a friendly pro-am. Read more here: LPGA.com
