2014 WTA Finals Pre-Tournament Interviews

One the eve of the main draw starting play at the 2014 WTA Finals (as opposed to the new rising stars event at the WTA Finals), the Elite Eight sat down for a few quick words before the competition. In addition to Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Simona Halep, Eugenie Bouchard, Agnieszka Radwanska, Ana Ivanovic and Caroline Wozniacki (the eight competitors), we also heard from this year’s finals ambassador, the newly retired Li Na. Were it not for her retirement due to continued injuries, Li Na would have been in this event. She was the runner-up last year, taking Serena to 3 sets in the final. It will be a truly international affair in Singapore as all eight competitors (plus the ambassador, if you’d like to include her) represent different countries: America (Serena), Russia (Masha), Czech Republic (Petra), Romania (Simona), Canada (Genie), Poland (Aga), Serbia (Ana), Denmark (Caro) and though not participating, China (Li Na).
