Inbee Park Completes Career Grand Slam With Win at 2015 Women’s British Open

I don’t care what the LPGA says. I love the tour and commissioner Michael Whan is doing a great job, but there was never a need to have a fifth Major. Rather than add prestige to the tour, it has simply added more need for explanations for who don’t follow the LPGA closely. So with all due respect to the Evian Championship, Inbee Park’s victory at the 2015 Ricoh Women’s British Open completes the career Grand Slam. Yes, the LPGA agrees, but there shouldn’t be a situation where verification is necessary. Grand Slam? Super Slam? Oy. It’s her 7th overall Major, matching Karrie Webb with the most Majors among active LPGA players. Queen Bee joins Webb, Annika Sorenstam, Juli Inkster, Pat Bradley, Mickey Wright and Louise Suggs as a career Grand Slam winner. I’ve held out for a long time, but maybe it’s time for me to  acknowledge that the greatest Korean golfer ever is not Se Ri Pak. It’s Inbee Park. I doubt Inbee would ever say that out of respect. Still, consider that only Mickey Wright on the LPGA reached 7 Majors at a younger age (Tiger Woods did it on the PGA ). All I know for sure is that we are watching an all time legend at the peak of her skills and there appears to be no limits to what she can accomplish any time soon. Her 7-under 65 final round, 12-under overall, come from behind victory at Turnberry adds another level to her greatness.  All hail The Queen!

  1. Hey Bobby great work! I agree 5 majors mucks things up a bit but outside of In Bee losing a limb, she will win all the majors.
Mike Whan’s back was against the wall when re-upping the Evian contract. The LPGA didn’t have leverage then and barely has it now.
The sponsors dictate the terms, not the LPGA.
Again, keep up the good work!

    • Thanks! Everything you say is correct. Definitely, as Inbee has won Evian when it wasn’t a Major…nothing makes me think she won’t win it sooner or later barring injury.
