Okay, here’s the thing. Three of my four favorite players, Madison Keys, Maria Sharapova, and Simona Halep, have all won their first two matches at the 2018 Australian Open. Two matches is far short of the seven you need to win a major. Not only that, Keys and Halep have never won a major. So I don’t want to jump the gun here, but I like how they’re looking. Of the three, Sharapova is probably in the most danger of losing her next match. Not because she isn’t playing well. It’s because the next opponent is Angelique Kerber who appears to be at the top of her game right now after some struggles last year. If Angelique comes out and plays the way she has early this year, Masha might be in some trouble and out in Melbourne in the third round. Now watch, since I’ve said that Sharapova will probably come out and blitz Kerber while Maddie and Simona bow out in straight sets. I hope not, I would like to see nothing more on the woman’s side, for that matter on either side, then one of those three taking the title ( especially if the one is Madison).
