For me, a lifelong tennis fanatic, this is the most wonderful time of the year. Wimbledon? Sure, I’m not unaware or dismissive of the sport’s ultimate prize. But it’s not at the top of my list. Even my LPGA fandom didn’t move me to look too hard at the United States Solheim Cup announcement today. … Continue reading
Like 2013, this year I will do a countdown of the top money list leaders from both the WTA and LPGA. Last year I did the top 30, but this year I will do the top 25. Note that as of this post, the retired Li Na has been removed from the WTA website money … Continue reading
2-time Major winner Li Na joined the ranks of athletes such as Michael Jordan, John McEnroe, Pete Sampas and Mia Hamm by having a building at a Nike headquarters named after her. The #2 ranked tennis player is the first player representing an Asian country (in this case China, of course) to win a Major … Continue reading
She speaks perfectly fluent American English with no accent and seems very Americanized in some ways, but make no mistake about it…Maria Sharapova is a Russian woman to her core. 3-time Major winner, former world #1 and generally super-cool Maria Sharapova sat down to talk and get feedback from women who are interested in her Nike Collection line. Masha is very involved in the designs of all of her fashion lines, including her very popular Cole Haan ballet flats.
Here a nice little promo for Suzann Petterson from Nike Golf. She talks about her putter and also her mindset going into the season. Suzann is superbly talented and incredibly focused. But can anybody catch Yani Tseng in 2012? We will see.
Earlier in 2011, at the Fujisankei Ladies Classic, Kumiko Kaneda won her first JLPGA event. She has a sponsorship from Nike and was included in the Nike “Make Yourself” series. The series has featured notable women athletes such as Hope Solo, Maria Sharapova and Li Na, among others.
