Former Tennis Champion Martina Hingis Marries Equestrian Show Jumper

Former #1-ranked WTA player Martina Hingis has married French show jumper Thibault Hutin. The marriage came as a bit of a shock as Hingis in March of this year had announced her engagement to Swiss attorney Andreas Bieri. Hingis, who has dated golfer Sergio Garcia and tennis players Radek Stepanek and Magnus Norman, has ridden show horses her entire life. I remember being nervous every time I would see Martina riding a horse during her playing days. I would have fears of another Maureen “Little Mo” Connolly accident, whose career was cut short by an accident with a horse she was riding and a truck. Incidentally, Connolly, in my opinion, might have gone on to be the greatest player in history. Even though her career ended at 19, her numbers to that point were untouchable.
